Weekly Font Review: Homizio Nova

19:24:00

Every week, as part of our on-going weekly posts segment, we post a review-article on an exciting typeface or font for your enjoyment. So whether you’re in search of a new font to use for your next project, or maybe you just want to extend your typographic awareness, our weekly font review is must-read for any type enthusiast.

This week’s feature font – Homizio Nova – comes from Brazil based designer and type designer Álvaro Thomáz.

Homizio Nova is a newly released sans serif typeface inspired by the much acclaimed Proxima Nova. The two typefaces are remarkably similar, with subtle variances in kerning between letters, letter forms and weight variants. One of the biggest differences is that Homizio Nova is free for download and comes in four weights – Light, Light Italic, Italic and regular respectively.
If you’re familiar with Proxima Nova, you’ll notice the subtle differences immediately, most notably the compact kerning of Homizio and slightly thicker stresses and shoulders.
Homizio Nova is part of larger font family, taking inspiration from ‘Homizio’ which comes in 6 different weights and is also free. You can take a look at some more typefaces designed by Álvaro over at his Behance profile here.
Homizio Nova is available for download from DaFont here.
